Many Things.

This is going to be a very confused post.
It's almost midnight, and this post is a result of a show I just watched on T.V. - Dance India Dance.
Amitabh Bacchan was the guest of honor.

My chief points are:

  1. Hindi is a brilliant, evocative and an astonishingly warm language. WE are killing it. We should be ashamed. Of the killing, not the language.
  2. BigB is...something else. His personality is almost larger than life. He literally fills the screen, if you get what I mean.
Both the points are related of course. As is everything in this transient world.

I realized our cold-blooded attitude towards our own mother tongue when Mr. Bacchan started speaking. I mean, he speaks the language so well, he gives it a new dimension altogether. It's a pleasure hearing him speak.
We should be ashamed of ourselves for treating our heritage so despicably. Hiding behind a self constructed facade of counterfeit cool. Not done. Actually, here is where I should admit that I'm actually quite incapable of doing justice to Hindi but there is no excuse for deriding it. None at all. Not for any of you.

Continuing the good news roller coaster:
  1. Balu got an offer from U Penn!
  2. I got an offer from U Birmingham
  3. Maggie got an offer from U Leeds (So, no points for guessing which one I'll be accepting)

And what's up with you guys?! Wake up!
Remember when our blogs used to be fun?? When we hosted random chat sites.
VNIT prisoners seemed to have incinerated themselves.
Not done. No way!!!

Best of Luck for your Board Exams. I know this is no use, you are doomed anyway. I just hope you live to tell the tale.

Remember Matchpoint?
Thats the luck I need.

And I totally agree about Amitabh. He's charismatic.

I know..people try evrythn possible to grab attention...and speaking in 'hinglish' makes ppl cool here i guess...instead of promoting our language, we are degrading it... so sad :(

Congrats on B'ham :). Awesome stuff-2 admits and so early :). I must confess that I am not such a big fan of Amitabh. Agreed that he is charismatic and ol. But his journey to the top hasn't exactly been a clean slate :|.Instead it is mired in several controversies several of which he hasn't been able to defend. Leaving that aside, Hindi and all our Indian languages for that matter are far more evocative than English. Its a pity most of us don't respect this fact.

Ok,firstly Congrats!!And I totally second you on all the stuff about Big B.His Hindi is simply mesmerizing.Check out Ashutosh Rana speak sometime,he's amazing too.I know I can't speak Hindi half as good as the northies of our college,it's fun to just listen to them.

You're right,it's high time we stop feeling proud of our warped tongue and try to redeem the beauty of the language.

cheers,
